Children to join parents in the office during strikes?

ServicedofficeBENews800607850

Staff members in serviced offices throughout the UK may be joined by some rather young workers today (June 30th), as employees are encouraged to take their children to work to help cope with public sector strikes.

Around 750,000 public sector workers are taking part in industrial action today, with many schools across the UK being forced to shut for the day due to a lack of teaching staff.

Prime minister David Cameron has urged people affected by the strike to take their children into the office, rather than staying at home and affecting business productivity.

“Some parts of the civil service are making arrangements for children to come in to work with parents,” his spokesman said.

“In the private sector, ultimately it is down to them but I would presume they would want to minimise disruption.”

The strike is being carried out by the National Union of Teachers, the University College Union and the Public and Commercial Services union due to a row about pension reform.
