City of London Police and Serious Fraud Squad share office space

Office space in London just got a little bit more action packed, after the City of London Police and the Serious Fraud Squad (SFO) announced they were working on plans to share space.

Talks have been held between the two agencies about relocating to shared offices when the SFO”s lease runs out next year. It would mean they would be able to share resources, back-office functions and capabilities.

City of London Police Commissioner Adrian Leppard said: “We are in active discussions with the SFO about how we put more formal arrangements in place about our closer working relationship. We are never going to be a merged organisation, but we can do more to work efficiently.”

The two bodies have always worked together on investigations, but this would enable a more collaborative approach to the work.

If these two government bodies were to combine in shared offices it may be an important austerity measure for them. Several local authorities have announced they are to move to cheaper offices in recent months, as a way to cut costs.

Some councils have also discussed or introduced hot desking practices to save space and money, including Selby Council.
