Mobile working should not be seen as a burden

Introducing flexible and mobile working into the office space should not be seen as a burden by businesses.

According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the government’s commitment to an early consultation on flexible working rights in the UK is a step in the right direction as the move would benefit thousands of office space staff.

Ben Willmott, senior policy adviser at the CIPD, said many business owners had already realised the huge benefits offered by flexible working solutions and were introducing such policies ahead of changes to existing flexible working regulations.

Mr Willmott added: “[CIPD will] continue to press the government to proceed at the earliest opportunity with the light-touch regulation necessary to extend the right to request to all workers.”

Recently, Martin Lyne, director of small and medium-sized enterprise marketing at T-Mobile, said the proliferation of smartphones was encouraging many business to adopt mobile working strategies.
