Employers must Support Workers to Ensure Self-Belief

Employers based in serviced offices are at risk of damaging their workers’ self-belief if they do not provide adequate support in the workplace, it has been claimed.

Right Corecare suggested that employees under pressure could easily lose motivation and self-belief, if problems were not kept in check and dealt with through the right support channels.

Kevin Friery, clinical director at the services, said: “The biggest single problem is that they lose self-confidence – that they develop a belief that if they face pressure they will become depressed, become anxious, become incapacitated and are therefore a person who can’t cope with pressure and must find some soft options.”

He added that by providing support, employers could boost self-belief and equip their staff with the ability to make their own choices.

Mr Friery’s comments come following research by the Chartered Management Institute, which showed that a lack of competence and misplaced confidence amongst bosses was creating a stressed-out workforce, as the majority of workers have been asked to make decisions they feel they are not trained for.
