Virtual offices ‘support business growth’

The use of virtual offices has helped one entrepreneur extend his business across Canada, it has been reported.

Speaking to the Globe and Mail, Darryl Anderson, owner of Wave Point Consulting, said the use of such facilities has provided the flexibility and freedom he needed to grow his business.

He explained that he wanted to establish a presence for his company in a number of Canadian cities, but without moving from his home in Victoria.

“My family moved three times in five years and they basically said, do whatever you want, but we’re not moving again,” Mr Anderson told the news provider.

He said that the company could not afford to lease office space across the country, but still needed a corporate address and meeting space at each location.

And this is where the use of virtual offices is paying dividends.

“The virtual office is in my home location of Victoria, they take my mail, I have reception and phone service, access to a private office,” he said.

“I have to go in and out of Vancouver a fair bit … If I need to meet a client in the afternoon, I go into the business centre [there], I have access to whatever resources I need.”

Mr Anderson said he sometimes just needs a place to go and think, or prepare for a meeting with a client.

And the meeting rooms offered by his virtual office provider are suited to this task.

“The business lounge gives me access to wireless and I can have a cup of coffee, or sometimes I need a project debriefed,” he said.
