People working in high-pressure serviced office space in London could try using visualisation as a technique to help tackle stress.
Stress doctor Terri Bodell explained that using visualisation can help to directly target the chemical source of stress, so that people can feel calmer and more prepared to focus on the problem at hand.
She said: “If you can get your mind to a more peaceful state, then the rest of your body will follow. No matter what type of visualisation technique you use, as long as it works for you, learn to use it regularly in times of stress.”
One technique she advised people try was to think of a peaceful picture which they could fill their mind when whenever they felt they were feeling stressed.
A recent survey by mental health charity Mind suggested that a fifth of all employees are so afraid of losing their jobs that they will not admit that they are feeling stressed.
The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has a strategy in place for dealing with stress in the workplace, which includes having people in a company which others can speak to if they are in need of some help.
