Working flexibly in the office space can reduce stress

Recent research has shown that working part time, or having control over the hours and the way you work can reduce stress in serviced offices in the UK.

Part-time work and flexible work are on the up all over the UK as more people try to juggle employment, home life and other commitments, and these things are contributing to make a less stressful office.

The traditional nine to five is changing, and with it the way that people work, meaning that many can work as they want to, reducing stress and increasing productivity, according to Orange SME director Martin Lyne.

He told HR Magazine: “There is an option for everyone and full time workers can achieve the same benefits from a better work-life balance as part-time employees. However, businesses need to support their employees and provide them with the right tools and support to enable flexible working. After all, they will ultimately benefit from happier, more productive staff.”

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence suggested that introducing flexible working would reduce stress, anxiety and depression, saving employers billions of pounds, as workers would take less sick days.
