Young employees keep stress ‘bottled up’

ServicedofficeBENews800709039

Young people who are having difficulties within the workplace are more likely to bottle it up than ask for help, according to Right Corecare.

Instead of confiding in another colleague or bringing up their troubles during a review, young people keep it to themselves.

The organisation added that this particular demographic were also more at risk of finding pressure of work as unbearable.

Kevin Friery, clinical director at the organisation, said: “Maybe older people have the same amount of pressure but don’t see it as stress – they see it as pressure that they are more likely to be able to cope with or are more likely to understand where to go for help if it gets out of hand.”

A recent Health of the Workplace report from Aviva found that longer hours and workplace pressures are stopping staff from taking the breaks they need.
